Optional and mandatory questions

By default, new questions are neither optional nor mandatory. These tags must be assigned manually to individual questions.

Optional questions do not have to be answered. An unanswered optional question will be assigned the OK status.

If a question within a repeating question group is made optional, then the question does not have to be answered for the group row to be complete. This means that new group rows can be created even if the question is left blank. If a repeating question group is made optional, the group does not have to be complete for the eForm to be complete.

Mandatory questions do have to be answered. An unanswered mandatory question will be assigned the Missing status. If you try to leave the eForm with an unanswered mandatory question, a popup message is displayed alerting you of this and asking you to confirm that you want to leave the eForm.

If a question within a repeating question group is made mandatory, then the question must be answered for the group row to be complete. This means that new group rows cannot be created if the question is left blank. If a repeating question group is made mandatory, the group must be complete for the eForm to be complete, i.e. the minimum number of rows must be filled in.

An unanswered default question will be assigned the Missing status but you will not be alerted when you leave the eForm.
