Adding a comment to a question

 

Note: This option is not available for data reviewers.

 

• Right click the question status icon and select Comments > Add from the popup menu. Or press the F11 key on your keyboard. The Question Information window is displayed with the Comments tab open.

• Enter your comment and click Close. The maximum number of characters allowed for a comment is 2000.

• The comment icon (or if there is also a note attached) will be added to the question status icon. See example

   

  

   

 

To add a comment to a question, you need both the 'Change data' and the 'Create response comments' permissions

 

 

Questions with comments attached are shown with a comment icon next to the question status icon. See example

If you know the location of the question:

 

1. Open the relevant eForm, right click the question status icon and select Comments > View.

2. The Question Information window is displayed with the Comments tab open. All comments attached to the question are listed.

 

Alternatively, you can search for questions with comments attached:

 

1. Select View > Search Panel or click the Open Search Panel icon to open the search panel. More info

   • When you open the search panel, it will appear as it was when the panel was last closed.

   • At any time you can clear all the search fields by clicking the Clear Search fields icon at the top of the panel.

   • To save a search for future use, click the Save Search icon at the top of the panel to save the current combination of search settings. Enter a name for the new search or click Replace Search and select a search to overwrite. Click Save. Searches are stored separately for each user. To open a previously stored search, click the arrow to the right of the Open Stored Search icon at the top of the panel and select a search from the drop down list.

2. Ensure Data is selected from the drop down list at the top. See example

    

   

3. Select 'All' from the Comments drop down list in addition to other search criteria. See example

    

   

4. Click the Execute search button to display the data in the Data Browser in the main window.

5. A list of questions with comments attached is displayed. Double click on a question to open the relevant eForm.

 

To view a comment from an eForm, you need the 'View response comment' permission

 

 

Note: This option is not usually available to data reviewers.

 

Comments can be removed at any time. All text in the comment will be removed. If you only want to remove part of a comment, you can view the comment and edit it instead.

 

• Right click the question status icon and select Comments > Remove All from the popup menu. Or press the F12 key on your keyboard.

• Click Yes to confirm the deletion. All comments are removed.

 

If you prefer to view the comments before removing them:

 

1. Right click the question status icon and select Comments > View from the popup menu. The Question Information window is displayed with the Comments tab open.

2. Click Remove All Comments.

3. Click Yes to confirm the deletion. All comments are removed.
