Hiding a question means that it still exists on an eForm but cannot be seen or answered by the data entry user. The question can still be seen on the eForm in the Study Definition module. When you hide a question, you are only hiding it on one specific eForm. It will still be displayed on any other eForms on which it has been placed.
The question caption is hidden as well as the entry field.
You may choose to hide derived questions which the data entry user does not need to see. You may also choose to hide questions that are no longer needed as once a study status has been to set to Open, you cannot remove questions from an eForm.
Ensure that any hidden questions are set to be optional. Data entry users cannot see hidden questions and so will not answer them. If a hidden question is mandatory and unanswered, the status 'Missing' will be assigned to the eForm which will cause confusion if all visible questions have been answered.
Do not assign validations to hidden questions. A validation message being displayed for a question that the user cannot see will cause confusion.
Open the eForm containing the question by clicking the eForms shortcut button and selecting the relevant tab.
Right click within the eForm and select Edit eForm from the popup menu. The eForm definition window is displayed.
Click More to expand the eForm definition window.
Locate the question you wish to hide and click at the intersection of the question row and the Hidden column. A cross appears.
Click OK to save and close the eForm definition window.
