About the Study Upgrade Expression Checker

The Study Upgrade Expression Checker is designed to highlight potential problems in Arezzo expressions when upgrading a study from MACRO v3 to MACRO v4.

Due to the use of a different Arezzo engine in MACRO v3 and MACRO v4, some differences in the behaviour of Arezzo expressions have been found between the two versions of MACRO. The Expression Checker searches a study for expressions which may pose risks because of these differences and generates a report in text, HTML or XML format.

The Expression Checker does not change any data, and cannot correct any errors that are found.

The known differences in Arezzo between MACRO v3 and MACRO v4 are documented in the 'Changes to Arezzo' guide, part of the Database Upgrade Support Pack available from the MACRO User Community website. Please refer to this guide whilst using the Expression Checker.

Disclaimer

The Expression Checker identifies expressions which are recommended as a focus for testing in MACRO v4 after upgrading a study from MACRO v3, based on the known differences between MACRO v3 (Arezzo 5) and MACRO v4 (Arezzo 7).

Not all identified expressions will necessarily pose a risk in MACRO v4, and we do not guarantee to locate every expression which may present a problem in MACRO v4. It is the responsibility of the study designer to check for the desired behaviour.

If you find Arezzo expressions in your studies which do not behave as expected after upgrading to MACRO v4, and which are not covered by the Expression Checker, please contact Customer Support. We will be happy to try to include any new issues in a future version of MACRO.
