Importing a study definition

To import a study definition, you need the 'Import study definition' permission. This feature has a database-wide scope.

Three types of study can be imported into MACRO:

MACRO 4 studies (.sdd)

By default, study definitions exported from MACRO 4 are stored in the Out Folder in the application folder.

MACRO 3 studies (.zip)

By default, study definitions exported from MACRO 3 are stored in the Out Folder in the application folder.

CDISC studies (.xml)

MACRO is compatible with the CDISC standard created by the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium.

On import, the CDISC data file is converted into xml and imported into MACRO using functionality from the Batch Data Loading module. Example of the xml file for a simple study

Importing a study

  1. Select Tasks > Study > Import type of study... The Import Study window is displayed.

  2. Select the file that you wish to import.

  3. Select the file and click Open. If you are importing a study that already exists in the database, you will be asked in turn if you wish to overwrite the existing study and then any specific study parameters such as CTC definitions, event definitions and targets, configured email actions and configured command line actions:

Note: When a study containing MACRO events is imported into a database, the action for all events is reset to ‘None’ to avoid the potential confusion of automated activity. The configuration settings for an event will be restored when you re-enable the action.
