Data Transfer module

Transferring data from a remote site

To transfer study data, you must have a working internet connection and the remote machine must have been configured for remote data entry.

  1. Ensure that no subject is open in the Web Data Entry module. You cannot view or enter data whilst the transfer process is taking place.

  2. Open the MACRO Data Transfer module on the remote machine.

  3. Click Start Transfer.

  4. The data transfer will begin and all new data since the previous transfer will be sent to the server. Information about the transfer is displayed in the main window including confirmation that the transfer has completed. See details of what happens during the transfer process...

  5. When the transfer is finished, click File > Exit to close the module.

All changed data will be sent to the server during a transfer session. You do not have to select which data to transfer.

Transferred data can include:

Details of each transfer session are saved to a log file on the remote machine, named log_datatransfer_timestamp.txt

The default location is the Out Folder in the MACRO application folder but can be changed in the configuration settings for the Data transfer module.

Ensure that you are aware of the behaviour of transferred DCRs, SDVs and notes.

Requesting subject data from a site

Administrators can request that all subject data be re-sent from a site. This is done from the server machine and will overwrite all current server data for that site.
