There are a number of things you can do at the design stage to maximise the performance of your study during data entry:
We recommend a maximum of 100 questions on an eForm and an ideal of less than 50.
Arezzo conditions directly impact performance so if you have a lot of validations, derivations and Only Collect If conditions on a long eForm, consider splitting it into several smaller eForms.
If you have a repeating question group containing more than 10 questions in a row, consider using a repeating eForm instead. This is likely to improve performance and will be more manageable for users than having to navigate complicated, scrolling sections.
Once a study is live, you can switch on High Performance Mode to improve the speed at which data browser results are returned in the DE/DR module.
You can also choose to switch on performance logging for the Web Data Entry module. This writes a standard set of performance statistics to the LOGPERFORMANCE table in the MACRO database. The logging itself may impact performance, so we recommend that you don't keep it on permanently but instead only switch it on temporarily to examine bottlenecks in your study.
