The field order of questions on an eForm is important because this is the order in which the data entry user will enter the question responses. We recommend that the field order is the same as the graphical order of the questions on the eForm, so as to avoid confusion to the data entry user.
New questions are numbered automatically as you add them to the form. Repositioning questions and inserting them amongst existing ones will affect the sequence of question numbering. This will look messy if the question numbers are displayed, and will cause confusion for the data entry user. To renumber the questions so that they appear in sequence:
Right click on the eForm and select Renumber All Items from the popup menu.
You will be asked if you wish to renumber all questions so as to reflect their appearance on the eForm. Click Yes to continue.
The numbers will be redistributed so that the questions appear in order on the eForm.
You can also renumber questions in the eForm Definition window.
You can choose whether you want numbering to be displayed with the question captions by setting the Automatic numbering toggle in the eForm Definition window.
