View the question in the Data Browser.
Select the question/s to be frozen. Use the Ctrl key to select multiple rows.
Right click on the question/s and select Freeze Question from the popup menu.
You cannot freeze a question if:
it is already frozen or locked
another user is editing the subject
you do not have permission to freeze data
On an eForm, a frozen question is greyed out and has the freeze icon displayed next to it. See example
In the Data Browser, a frozen question is also indicated by green text. See example
You cannot make any changes to the frozen data or add comments, although you can still create SDVs, DCRs and Notes.
To freeze a question, you need both the 'Freeze at question level' and 'Monitor/review data' permissions

Right click on the question/s and select Unfreeze Question from the popup menu.
You cannot unfreeze a question if:
it is locked or already unfrozen
another user is editing the subject
you do not have permission to unfreeze data
If you unfreeze a question within a frozen eForm, the eForm is automatically unfrozen too (although other frozen questions will remain frozen). If this eForm is within a frozen visit, the visit will also be automatically unfrozen, and if the subject is frozen, that will also be automatically unfrozen.
To unfreeze a question, you need both the 'Unfreeze at question level' and 'Monitor/review data' permissions
You can freeze an eForm from either the Schedule or from the Data Browser:
Open the schedule for the subject.
Right click on the eForm you want to freeze and select Freeze from the popup menu.
View the eForm in the Data Browser.
Select the eForm/s to be frozen. Use the Ctrl key to select multiple rows.
Right click on the eForm/s and select Freeze eForm from the popup menu.
You cannot freeze an eForm if:

When you freeze an eForm, all its unfrozen questions will be frozen too.

When you unfreeze an eForm, all the unlocked questions within the eForm will also be unfrozen. If the eForm is within a frozen visit, the visit will also be unfrozen, and if the subject is frozen, that will be unfrozen too.
Note that when a visit is frozen (either by freezing the visit or freezing the subject), the visit date eForm will also be frozen. Visit date eForms do not appear on the schedule but the associated visit date field appears in the header of each eForm in the visit.
It is not possible to unfreeze the visit date eForm individually from the Schedule or the Data Browser. The only way to unfreeze the visit date eForm is by unfreezing the whole visit. If an individual eForm in a frozen visit is unfrozen, the visit will become unfrozen but the visit date eForm will remain frozen. To unfreeze the visit date eForm, the visit must be frozen and then unfrozen.
