List of common popup messages

From time to time and especially when you try to save data, messages or windows will appear, giving you information and prompting you to respond. Below is a list of some common messages and prompts. Click on an item for information.

This question has a 'Reject if' validation condition attached. The data you have entered satisfies this condition and so is being rejected.

What should I do?

An explanation of the rejection is present within the popup and should help you to re-enter the correct data. Your only option is to click OK and enter a different value. Your original entry will automatically be removed.

This question has a 'Warn if' validation condition attached. The data you have entered satisfies this condition and so you are being warned.

What should I do?

To overrule a warning, you need both the 'Change data' and 'Overrule warnings' permissions

An explanation of the warning is present within the popup and should help you to either re-enter the correct data or overrule this warning. You have 3 options:

If you have entered an incorrect value, click OK and enter a different value.
If you wish to ignore the warning, click OK and leave your original entry in place. The Warning status will be assigned to the question.
If there is a valid reason for entering the value, enter your reason in the Overrule text box (using up to 255 characters) or select a predefined reason from the drop down list and click OK. This will leave your original entry in place and assign the OK Warning status to the question.

The question named in the message is a mandatory question and so has to be answered before you save the eForm. This often relates to the eForm date question which usually appears at the top of the page above the eForm but can be any question specified by the study designer.

What should I do?

Your only option is to click OK. The popup will close and the question will be highlighted yellow awaiting data entry.

You have tried to save an eForm without having made any changes to it. MACRO is notifying you of this as whenever you save an eForm any validations will be re-run which is unnecessary if no data has changed.

What should I do?

Click Yes to save and close the eForm.
Click No to close the eForm without saving.

You can opt to disable this message in Tools > Options > eForm by deselecting Show eForm User Warnings.

You have tried to close the eForm without having saved your changes.

What should I do?

You have 3 options:

Click Yes to save and close the eForm.
Click No to close the eForm without saving. You will lose any changes that have been made.
Click Cancel to keep the eForm open.

The current eForm is a repeating eForm.

Repeating forms are created by the study designer when the number of times a particular eForm will need to be completed in unknown. For example, there may be an eForm in the study that deals with adverse events. The study designer would not know how many events might need to be recorded in a single visit so a repeating eForm is used.

What should I do?

You are being asked if you would like to open a blank copy of this eForm.

If you click Yes, an identical eForm will be opened for you to complete. When you return to the schedule, you will see this new eForm inserted beneath the original eForm.

If you click No, a blank eForm will still be created but does not require filling in and you will continue as normal.

It is possible for the study designer to have set up repeating eForms within repeating visits which can result in a large schedule. Work your way through as normal.

You have tried to move to the next eForm but the current eForm is the last in the current visit.

What should I do?

Click Yes to open the first available eForm in the next visit.

Or click No to remain on the current eForm.

The study designer has specified that if you make any changes to the answer for this question, you must give a reason for doing so. You may have changed the response or the question status may have changed.

What should I do?

You have 3 options:

Select a reason from the drop down list and click OK.
Type your reason into the entry field and click OK.
Or click Cancel to retain the original value for the question.

For authorisation reasons, the study designer has specified that this question can only be answered by a user with a particular role, for example an Investigator or Authoriser. This feature is often used for signing off eForms. You do not have the required role.

What should I do?

You need to ask a user with the specified role to enter their user name and password and click OK. This is known as an electronic signature.

You can then continue work without needing to re-log on as yourself.

A registration trigger has been placed at a certain point in the study. You have reached this point and the current subject has been automatically registered and assigned a registration number.

What should I do?

Click OK.

Registration has failed for this subject. This can happen for one of three reasons:

The current subject is not unique.
Necessary information is missing.
The subject does not comply with registration conditions.

Then determine the cause of the failure before trying to manually register the subject.

On opening an eForm you are being prompted to select a laboratory. This means that the eForm contains laboratory test questions and that there is more than one laboratory associated with your site. The normal ranges for the laboratory that you select will be used to validate all laboratory test results that you enter onto this eForm.

What should I do?

Select the laboratory at which the tests were carried out and click OK.

When the eForm opens, you will see the name of the laboratory displayed at the top of the eForm. See image

If you are not sure which laboratory to select, click Cancel.

You may change the selected laboratory at any time by clicking the laboratory link at the top of the eForm and selecting another.

MACRO supports multi-user data entry, where two or more users can edit a subject’s data at the same time.

Click OK and attempt to open or save the eForm again.
