Sometimes, when you click on an eForm icon in the schedule, the eForm will open as read-only. All data entry fields are disabled and appear with grey backgrounds. This will happen if any of the following are true:
you have been assigned a user role that does not contain the permission 'Change data'
the whole eForm is locked or frozen
the eForm is already open for editing by a data entry user
the subject data has been corrupted. In this case, hovering over the eForm status icon at the top of the eForm will display a tooltip message giving more information.

Enter, delete or change question values
Add or remove comments
Overrule existing warnings, or delete or edit overrules for existing warnings
Enter, delete or change the eForm date
Change the status of a question
